Come along to a Regional Skills Event and you’ll be inspired and motivated. Open to young people, their families and teachers the events will help you to consider the best career and skills opportunities available. A visit will ensure you get the best possible start to your career; you’ll be encouraged to make good decisions based on impartial information and advice about your future.
If you are attending as part of a school or college group (and whole year groups are invited to visit) you will receive pre-event information so you can make the most of your visit and target who you want to meet when you get to the event.
If you are coming as a family or as an individual we recommend you take a look at the exhibitor list and find out more about what the different companies and organisations can offer. It can be a good idea to practice an introduction or a few questions you might want to ask a future employer or recruiter.
Information about the different activities taking place at the events will be on the What’s On pages. As each organisation decides what they are going to do at the event we will update the website, Facebook and Twitter so make sure you like and follow us.
When you arrive at the event there will be signs directing you to the reception entrance. You will receive a free event guide and are encouraged to take part in the activities and talk to the organisations. Groups of students do not need to be escorted around the stands but we ask that students are supervised.
A travel bursary is available to large groups visiting the Regional Skills Events and is payable following attendance at the event. Groups bringing students by coach can apply for £100 per coachload (minimum 45 students per coach) for the first two coaches and £1 per student for each additional student over 90 or more students.
The bursary is based on actual numbers attending and an application form will be emailed to all group leaders after the event. Bursary forms are also available at each event from the reception desk.
Parents, carers, families and teachers want to have fun too, so there is a dedicated evening opening giving you a chance to find out more about the opportunities available to young people. You can try out the hands on demonstrations and interactive features whilst talking to experts.
A great range of exhibitors will be waiting to meet you and let you know all about the options they have available for young people, we recommend you take a look at the exhibitor list and find out more about what the different companies and organisations can offer. Meeting in this informal settling will help you help your child plan for their future. Open to all, the evening opening gives a wide audience a unique setting to ask plenty of questions and collect valuable resources and information.
